Understanding your FPL bill involves reviewing the total amount due, your kilowatt-hour (kWh) usage, and the meter summary. Key sections include a fixed base charge, fuel costs, non-fuel energy charges, and taxes. Use the Energy Dashboard to track usage, compare it with past months, and identify high-usage.

To understand your LCEC Bill focus on the Account Summary (top right) for the total due, and the usage graph to track consumption. Key charges include the Base Charge (fixed cost), Energy Charge (kWh used), Power Cost Adjustment (fluctuating fuel costs), and taxes/fees.

A home solar electric system works by capturing sunlight through panels mounted on your roof and converting it into usable electricity. Each panel produces DC power, which flows to an inverter — either a single central unit or individual microinverters mounted behind each panel. The inverter converts that DC power into the AC electricity your home already runs on. From there, it feeds directly into your main breaker panel and powers your lights, appliances, and everything else. Any excess electricity your system produces gets sent back to the utility grid, earning you credits through net metering that offset your bill. With the right system size, many homeowners can eliminate most or all of their monthly electric costs — and with battery storage added, you can keep the lights on even when the grid goes down.
